A Rotary Evening with Internationally Acclaimed Itzhak Perlman

Rotarians and their guests are invited to an extraordinary reception and PMP Sarasota Winter Residency musical event featuring musical performances by the exceptionally gifted PMP students (ages 12-20+), considered to be the next generation of concert artists.

World renowned concert violinist and conductor, Itzhak Perlman, and his wife and founder of PMP, Toby Perlman, will be in Sarasota as part of the annual Perlman Music Program Sarasota Winter Residency.  Each year Toby and Itzhak Perlman bring approximately 35 of the world’s most gifted young string musicians to this area to rehearse and perform for a two-week period during the holiday season.  Most of the rehearsals, recitals and master classes are held on the USF Sarasota-Manatee campus, and are open to the public.

A special reception for Rotary District 6960 is planned prior to the public musical event on Friday, January 3, 2014.  This event is the third annual for Rotary District 6960.

This will be an evening of Rotary fellowship and celebration, in addition to a musical event featuring PMP students, exceptionally gifted young musicians from around the world.  The Perlmans along with PMP faculty and students will be present at the musical event.

Mr. Perlman, a polio survivor himself, has been a celebrity spokesman for PolioPlus and helped raise money and awareness around the world for Rotary’s US$200 Million Challenge.
